History
1912
The company’s origins date back to the Verquin bakery and pastry shop.
1925
The 3 Cigognes cookie factory is created, marking the first step in the company's development through the production and sale of cookies and candy.
1952
The two activities diverge and the company begins to specialize in making candy.
1957
The Pastille du Mineur is created.
1968
Upon his father’s death, Georges Verquin, Jr. takes charge of the company. He works together with his employees to implement modern distribution techniques and industrial-scale production.
1981
Thanks to the progress of private labels, the company continues to grow and the buildings get bigger.
1991
With more and more success, larger facilities become essential. The company moves to a 215,000 square foot (20,000m²) site in Tourcoing and introduces higher standards for quality, productivity and creativity.
2002
The 4th generation joins the family business to ensure development and preservation of its status as an independent company serving European distribution.
2005
Two new concepts for sugar-free mini-candies are launched: The Mini Pastille du Mineur and the sugar-free Mini Sève de Pin. These innovations reflect the brand’s new identity and a new positioning, extended to the entire product line.
2006
The Verquin company has been IFS and BRC certified since June 2006.
2007
The Verquin Company celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Pastille du Mineur, introducing sugar-free and pocket-size varieties of this herbal treat.
2008
Verquin buys out the Société Européenne de Confiserie (SEC), located in Neuville-en-Ferrain in the département of Nord-Pas-de-Calais.
2010
Verquin Confiseur and SEC merge.
2012
Centennial…and launch of the Fwi product line, named “2012 Flavor of the Year.”
